Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity.
• Completion of Surveyor Minimum Qualification Training (SMQT) within one year of hire date.
• Experience in Long-term Care Regulatory program is preferred.
• Two years of experience providing services in a health care setting as a registered nurse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site licensure inspections and complaint/incident investigations and annual comprehensive surveys in facilities to determine compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations.
• Communicate clearly with facility staff and others to provide, exchange, or verify information and resolve inquiries or complaints.
• Complete exit conferences and write inspection or survey reports detailing deficiencies.
• Revisit facilities to verify correction of cited violations and perform quality assurance reviews of documents.
• Might supervise team members during inspections and provide technical assistance to facilities.
• May testify at hearings or court proceedings to provide policy/procedure information and findings.
• Be available for on-call duties and travel up to 80%.
