Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Licensed Nursing Surveyor to perform on-site inspections and investigations in Texas long-term care facilities. The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, reporting, and collaboration with facilities.

The position requires an active RN license and prior long-term care regulatory experience, with up to 80% statewide travel and a strong focus on accuracy in documentation and communication.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity.
• Experience in long-term care regulatory programs is preferred.
• Experience in assessment and documentation of health status.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site licensure inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and annual surveys in facilities.
• Prepare detailed written reports with deficiencies, remedies, and regulatory determinations.
• Communicate findings clearly with facility staff and stakeholders.
• Travel up to 80% statewide; occasional on-call for emergencies or weather events.
• Provide guidance and policy clarifications to facilities and team members.
