Job summary

Cascadia Healthcare is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve food for residents and staff, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. You will follow planned menus and therapeutic diets, and ensure meals are served at the correct temperatures and presented attractively.

In this unionized, on-site role, you will work with the Culinary Manager to prepare meals, monitor temperatures, manage inventory, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment while supporting residents and operations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques.
• Knowledge of basic nutrition and food.
• Skilled in quantity food production.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the job.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their families and at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to be patient and polite.
• Ability to be accurate, concise, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to read, speak, understand, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food for regular and therapeutic diets according to a planned menu.
• Prepares alternative items to meet residents’ individual needs.
• Uses proper food handling techniques and records temperatures.
• Ensures meals are served on time and attractively.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety in the kitchen.
• Assists with inventory and receiving invoices.
