Placements24 is sourcing a Commercial Vehicle Driver for a contract role with a prominent freight and logistics company. The role covers regional distribution in the Northern Cape, requiring long-haul experience, a Code 10/14 license with a valid PrDP, and a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

You will plan routes, conduct vehicle inspections, maintain logs, and coordinate remotely with dispatch while delivering reliable, timely service and adhering to all regulations.

Qualifications

• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver’s license with a valid PrDP.
• Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a commercial vehicle driver, with long-haul experience preferred.
• Clean driving record with no significant infringements.
• Excellent knowledge of the Northern Cape region's road networks.
• Demonstrated ability to handle freight safely and securely.
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Access to reliable communication methods for remote reporting and coordination.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a commercial vehicle for long-distance freight transportation within the Northern Cape.
• Plan and optimize routes to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.
• Load and unload freight securely, adhering to weight and handling regulations.
• Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery records, and any required documentation.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety protocols.
• Provide professional service and communication with clients and dispatch.
• Manage any issues or emergencies encountered during transit effectively and safely.
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in excellent operational condition.
• Coordinate schedules and provide progress updates remotely to dispatch.
