Summary/Objective

The Logistics Supervisor is a hands-on position responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received from suppliers or production shops. The role ensures smooth and efficient operations, with tools and parts distributed to the correct customers. The supervisor oversees the receipt, storage, and distribution of production and service parts, monitors inventory, manages departmental budgets, and supervises employees.

Job Description
Essential Functions
  • Plans, coordinates, trains, motivates, and evaluates warehouse and receiving associates; ensures safe operation of material handling equipment; manages performance and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains equipment and training programs to support safe and effective warehouse operations.
  • Provides necessary equipment and storage solutions to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Researches and selects suitable material handling equipment based on performance, safety, reliability, and cost.
  • Oversees loading and unloading activities, ensuring proper staging, inspection, and accurate reporting of materials shipped and received.
  • Resolves discrepancies related to invoices and packing slips, and monitors related paperwork flow.
  • Evaluates deliveries and shipments to improve inventory control procedures.
  • Analyzes inventory levels to anticipate shortages and problems.
  • Oversees material supply to fabrication and stages materials for assembly.
  • Ensures proper storage to conserve space and comply with safety procedures, including inventory rotation.
  • Monitors and measures warehouse performance metrics.
  • Develops and recommends budgets for the department, including future staffing and equipment needs.
  • Develops team members’ skills within the warehouse organization.
  • Proposes strategies to reduce costs and improve supply chain procedures.
  • Analyzes demand data to forecast future needs.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks; occasionally works outdoors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of business experience; higher education is a plus.
  • 8-10 years in warehousing, inventory, or materials management in manufacturing.
  • At least 5 years supervisory experience.
Supervisory Responsibility

Manages all department employees, including performance management and hiring.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, mechanical parts, and noise; uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

Requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting over 75 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Position Type/Hours

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays.

Travel

No travel required.
