Summary/Objective
The Logistics Supervisor is a hands-on position responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring the receiving, storage, and distribution of items received from suppliers or production shops. The goal is to ensure smooth and efficient operations, with tools and parts distributed to the correct customers effectively. The role includes overseeing and participating in the receiving, storage, and distribution of production and service parts, maintaining inventory, managing departmental budgets, and supervising employees.

Job Description

  • Plans and coordinates work, trains, motivates, and evaluates warehouse and receiving staff; ensures safe operation of material handling equipment; manages performance and disciplines staff as needed.
  • Maintains equipment and training programs to support warehouse operations safely and effectively.
  • Provides appropriate equipment and storage solutions to ensure safe transport and storage of materials.
  • Researches and selects suitable material handling equipment based on performance, safety, reliability, and cost.
  • Oversees loading and unloading processes; ensures proper staging for inspection and accurate reporting of shipped and received materials.
  • Resolves discrepancies related to invoices, packing slips, and reports; monitors paperwork flow and data entry accuracy.
  • Evaluates deliveries and shipments to improve inventory control; analyzes product levels to anticipate shortages.
  • Oversees material supply to fabrication and stages materials for assembly.
  • Ensures proper storage to conserve space and safety; manages inventory rotation.
  • Monitors warehouse performance metrics related to inventory accuracy and material movement.
  • Develops and recommends annual budgets; plans for future personnel and equipment needs.
  • Develops team members' skills and performance.
  • Proposes cost-reduction strategies and logistics improvements.
  • Analyzes demand data to forecast future supply needs.
  • Operates material handling equipment as needed; may work outside occasionally.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Competencies

  • Ethical conduct, strong communication, technical proficiency, customer service focus, collaboration, business acumen, critical thinking, attention to detail, and negotiation skills.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of relevant business experience; higher education is a plus.
  • 8-10 years in warehousing, inventory control, or materials management in manufacturing.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.

Supervisory Responsibility

Manages all department employees, including performance management and hiring.

Work Environment

Exposure to fumes, mechanical parts, vibration; occasional loud noise; standard office equipment usage.

Physical Demands

Requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, bending, lifting over 75 pounds, and good vision capabilities.

Position Type/Hours

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional Saturdays.

Travel

No travel required.
