Position Purpose:
Develops, implements, and monitors all logistics management activities required for the timely and efficient transportation and distribution of products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop solutions that leverage the Company's volumes, systems, and partnerships while providing high levels of customer service in a cost-effective manner.
- Identify and prioritize logistics needs and communicate recommendations to upper management to achieve efficient product distribution.
- Provide data and recommendations on product tracking, route analysis, rerouting, costing, and usage alternatives.
- Advise IS and system users in developing and implementing logistics system improvements and changes.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) from potential software vendors.
- Test vendor software packages to identify potential shortcomings and assess vendors' ability to customize products to Home Depot specifications.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to Sr. Manager, Director, Sr. Director, or VP.
- Require interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
- Face unstructured situations requiring original approaches.
- Consider new courses of action within broad policies and medium-term goals when solving problems.
- Determine priorities and define actions once given general assignments.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Spend frequent periods standing or sitting; occasionally stoop or lift light objects (less than 8 pounds).
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor environment; infrequent exposure to unpleasant conditions.
- Operate under regular deadlines and quotas, often dealing with difficult issues.
