Job description

Job Summary

Performs various non-clinical tasks necessary to support care delivery, including inventory control (parring, put-away), linen management, patient care equipment cleaning, distribution, and patient transport. Coordinates functions within the department or assigned clinical area, delivering high-quality customer service to co-workers, patients, and clinical staff. Works independently to prioritize tasks, ensuring the best patient and family experience by optimizing customer interactions.

Job Duties

  1. Supports care delivery by performing care support activities.
  2. Assists with non-clinical activities supporting care delivery.
  3. Transports patients, belongings, and deceased individuals between departments.
  4. Prepares patients for transport, ensuring proper identification and I.D. bands.
  5. Manages resources in the assigned clinical area, including procurement, transport, storage, cleaning, and maintenance of supplies, linen, equipment, and other materials (excluding staff).
  6. Maintains knowledge of supplies, equipment, services, and operations of Support Services departments.
  7. Supports performance metrics through data entry as required.
  8. Identifies opportunities for improvement, proposes solutions, and participates in implementing operational enhancements.
  9. Contributes as a team member, supporting clinical staff, mentoring new staff, and providing excellent customer service.
  10. Maintains cleanliness and organization of supply rooms, equipment storage, patient rooms, and other areas.
  11. Ensures a safe environment by maintaining orderliness and safety standards, complying with OSHA, Department of Health, and Joint Commission regulations.

Work is performed in a clinical environment. The role requires compliance with organizational policies and procedures. The responsibilities listed are typical but not exhaustive.

Position Details

Geisinger offers a $2,500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, a starting pay of $15.25/hour with potential increases for experienced individuals, and up to $2 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Up to $40,000 in financial support is available to pursue nursing education.

  • Hiring Incentive: $2,500 sign-on bonus, payable in two installments, with stipulations.
  • Hours: 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
  • Schedule: Includes weekends and holidays rotation

Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Experience: Minimum 1 year of related work experience (Preferred)
