Job summary

Westport Axle Co., LLC, based in Cloverdale, VA, supports Volvo’s manufacturing operations with a focus on production support, warehousing, and material flow. This on-site role drives continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, analyzing workflows and implementing actions that boost safety, quality, productivity and cost efficiency.

Create and maintain standard work instructions, process documentation, and operating procedures; track key metrics to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related engineering or supply chain field preferred.
• 1–5 years in engineering, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, or process improvement.
• Experience in automotive/manufacturing/logistics environments preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data evaluation.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methodologies.
• Experience creating process documentation, work instructions, and process flow maps.

Responsibilities

• Analyze operational workflows, production support processes, and material flow to identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop and implement process improvements focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Create and maintain standard work instructions, process documentation, and operating procedures.
• Monitor key operational metrics and utilize data analysis to drive performance improvements.
• Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
• Support warehouse layout optimization, inventory flow improvements, and labor utilization initiatives.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and customer teams to resolve process challenges and improve performance.
• Assist with new program launches, operational expansions, and process integration activities.
