Job summary

Westport Axle Co., a subsidiary of Universal Logistics Holdings, Inc., is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Cloverdale, VA facility supporting Volvo manufacturing operations. You will maintain PLC, HMI, and automated material handling systems, troubleshoot electrical and automation issues, and help optimize uptime and throughput across production lines.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics, 1–5 years in controls or automation, experience with Allen-Bradley or

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
1–5 years of experience in controls, automation, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment in manufacturing or logistics environments.
Knowledge of PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley or Siemens.

Responsibilities

Support and maintain PLC, HMI, and automated material handling systems throughout the facility.
Troubleshoot controls, electrical, and automation issues to improve uptime and reliability.
Program and optimize PLC logic to evolving operational needs.
Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to resolve production challenges.
Assist in system upgrades, commissioning, and process automation projects.
