Job summary

Maersk seeks an Operations Specialist in Charlotte, NC to support day-to-day transportation and logistics activities, ensuring efficient movement of equipment and freight across the supply chain. You will monitor shipments, coordinate with service providers, and resolve operational exceptions while maintaining accurate transportation records.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and customer-focused, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related operational environment.
• Previous exposure to domestic and/or international shipping operations preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to monitor multiple shipments, tasks, and priorities.
• Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment with changing operational needs.
• Dependable and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.
• Patient and solution-oriented when working through operational exceptions or service challenges.
• Curious and inquisitive, with a willingness to investigate issues, ask questions, and identify solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor shipments and equipment in transit; identify and resolve operational exceptions.
• Track and trace container movements to support on-time delivery.
• Maintain accurate equipment, booking, and operational information across systems.
• Ensure depot bookings and equipment records support efficient movement.
• Create and complete transportation work orders.
• Investigate and resolve operational escalations with stakeholders.
• Review transportation charges for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with rail, depot, transport, and other service providers.
• Gather information with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and provide updates.
• Coordinate intermodal and cross-terminal movements to maintain network fluidity.
