Job summary

Penske Logistics in Elizabethtown, KY is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead hourly staff, supervise drivers, and ensure daily execution aligned with service and cost objectives. Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership qualities with strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to connect, build rapport and maintain solid relationships with associates, Company leadership, internal and external customers.
• Must have ability to work efficiently and independently with strong time management and organizational skills
• Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to actively listen are required
• Ability to manage through a problem, think critically, and make decisions independently
• Ability to drive process improvement and lead change
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
• Must demonstrate ownership & responsibility to run the operation with a sense of urgency
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Train and ensure supervisors and associates are competent and aligned with customer objectives.
• Communicate measurable performance standards.
• Interview hourly associates and provide hire recommendations.
• Monitor attendance and productivity; coach and counsel.
• Motivate and engage teams through recognition.
• Supervise logistics operations including service, loading/unloading, dispatch and documentation.
• Lead team meetings.
• Evaluate methods to boost dispatch productivity; assist in training.
• Provide relief coverage when needed.
• Maintain site systems for compliance and resolution of exceptions.
• Complete records and reports timely.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and profitability relationship.
• Control overtime and meet productivity targets.
• Safety: align with location safety strategy; train and direct to safe performance.
• Understand location-specific goals; meet/exceed daily expectations.
• Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities.
• Plan work to optimize fleet use; ensure safe operation; coordinate with vendors and leasing; schedule preventive maintenance.
