Job summary

Morrison Express is seeking a Logistics Manager in Compton, CA to plan and direct workload, optimize freight operations, and maintain strong vendor relationships. The role demands leadership to ensure compliance, cost control, and timely billing.

You will train staff, collaborate with sales and management, and drive strategic initiatives across MEC. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in freight forwarding, knowledge of Incoterms, and a proven customer-service record.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in logistics, business management or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in freight forwarding; contract logistics experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Incoterms and warehouse/trucking operations.
• At least 3 years in customer service with high standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CW1 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, monitor, direct, and assign workload to the logistics department.
• Ensure freight is managed efficiently and compliant with requirements.
• Coach and train station staff; ensure MEC trainings are completed on time.
• Collaborate with MEC sales/management to address customer needs and implement actions.
• Support other MEC members to achieve strategic goals.
• Monitor KPIs daily, including On Time Billing, and report variances.
• Assist Station Head with P&L oversight and secondary ownership.
• Understand warehousing fundamentals to support operations.
• Maintain relationships with local vendors; assist RFQ rate-building.
• Provide timely communication and problem resolution for customers.
