Job summary

Skylight, a Reno-based tech startup, seeks an experienced Logistics Ops professional to own execution across shipments and forwarder coordination. You’ll bridge freight forwarders, 3PLs, and internal teams to ensure on-time deliveries and compliant paperwork.

You’ll own data workflows, drive process improvements, and manage exceptions from vessel discharge to final delivery while collaborating with engineers or analysts to scale operations.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years in freight forwarding or 3PL with hands-on carrier management.
• Strong working knowledge of international freight: ocean/air and drayage.
• Proven ability to own exceptions, incidents, and escalations in a fast-moving environment.
• Comfortable with data: create trackers and reporting in spreadsheets.
• Baseline familiarity with customs and trade compliance workflows ISF/CBP basics.
• Clear written communication with carriers, forwarders, and 3PLs.
• Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable in ambiguity; ownership and continuous improvement.
• Process design and systems thinking; translate needs into tools or automation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with freight forwarders on day-to-day bookings, escalations, and performance follow-ups.
• Own the forwarder to drayage handoff with clear ownership across sites (Reno NV, Indianapolis IN).
• Coordinate FC transfers, routing decisions, cross-dock timing, and delivery sequencing.
• Audit forwarder rates, accessorials, and SLA performance; drive variances to resolution.
• Operate cargo tracking systems (TMS, Forwarder Systems) for freight visibility.
• Own data workflows: ensure shipping documents are captured, filed, and accessible.
• Lead exception and incident management; drive resolution to closure.
• Assist with ISF filing coordination, CBP documentation, and compliance workflows.
• Continuously improve processes, tools, and documentation across lanes.
