Job summary

JB Hunt in Edgerton, Kansas, is seeking a Manager Trainee for a Summer 2027 start in the Supply Chain department. Under general supervision, you will learn to manage a small driver count, including nights and weekends, and ensuresafe, timely freight movement with excellent customer service.

You will train to comply with DOT regulations, oversee driver compliance, and coordinate with internal and external contacts to plan, route, and monitor freight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company events as applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends as needed.
• Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and carriers to support new carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Assist with training drivers and internal staff on systems and processes.
• Develop reporting and financial analysis for customer locations and drive KPI tracking.
• Assist with inventory, assets, and driver assignment to balance equipment.
• Perform administrative duties including payroll, budgeting, invoicing, and reporting.
• Support yard operations, maintenance coordination, and fleet safety initiatives.
• Communicate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve issues and plan routes.
• Contribute to DOT compliance and safety culture within the company.
