Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee for a Spring 2027 start in Kansas to learn driver management, scheduling, and customer service responsibilities.

Under supervision, you will develop skills in DOT compliance, load planning, fleet profitability, and cross-functional collaboration while supporting safe, on-time freight moves for key customers. This program emphasizes relationship building with drivers and carriers, mentorship, and data-driven performance improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or HS Diploma with 1 year of management/transportation/logistics experience or equivalent military experience.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company events locations when applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends as needed.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and safe outside carriers for carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to train drivers and employees including onboarding with internal and customer systems.
• Develop reporting and financial analysis for customer locations and drive improvements in KPI performance.
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in markets.
• Perform payroll, budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, and invoicing tasks.
• Manage yard operations and coordinate maintenance for account equipment.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues and plan routes.
• Maintain the Company's safety culture with daily driver safety messages and periodic trainings.
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight movement to meet on-time service goals and customer requirements.
