Job summary

JB Hunt is seeking a Manager Trainee Summer 2027 in Texas to learn the management of a small driver count, covering nights and weekends as needed. You will ensure safe, timely freight movement, load assignment, and top-tier customer service while training to DOT compliance and driver regulation adherence.

You will interact with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight, with focus on continuous improvement and reporting at customer sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR HS diploma with 1 year in management/logistics.
• Willing to travel to account, customer and company event locations when applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends if needed.
• Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and carriers to set up new carriers and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to train drivers and staff, including systems onboarding for internal and customer platforms.
• Assist in optimizing fleet operations, measure KPIs, and present customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform admin duties: payroll, budgets, driver counseling, pay issues, and reporting.
• Learn to manage yard operations, maintenance scheduling, and safety issue resolution.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and company staff to resolve service and routing issues.
