J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. seeks a Manager Trainee to learn management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, ensuring safe, timely freight movement and exceptional customer service. The role includes DOT compliance, payroll, budgeting, and operator training.

Responsibilities cover relations with drivers and carriers, fleet optimization, and data-driven reporting to support profitability and service quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR HS Diploma with 1 year of related experience.
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up.
• Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to utilize personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and/or employees with internal and third party systems.
• Become proficient in maximizing fleet efficiency, measuring KPIs, and presenting customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge to manage inventory, assets, customer pools and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Learn payroll, Net-Revenue budget management, driver counseling, and payroll/pay issues analysis.
• Learn to manage yard operations, maintenance scheduling and safety-related issues for account equipment.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers and staff to resolve service issues, routing, and environmental factors affecting on-time delivery.
