Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee, May 2027, to learn and oversee a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and top-tier customer service.

The role trains in compliance with DOT regulations, driver safety, payroll, and budgeting, with comprehensive hands-on experience across fleet operations and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or HS diploma with related experience as described in the minimum qualifications.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to relocate regionally based on assignment.
• Experience leading a team is preferred.
• Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions.
• Adaptability to changing environments.
• Ability to build healthy client/vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure seamless carrier setup.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Learn personnel management including driver training and orientation for internal and client systems.
• Develop reporting and financial analysis for customers and internal use.
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, customer pools and driver assignments.
• Perform payroll, budgeting, and pay issue resolution related duties.
• Learn to manage yard operations and coordinate with maintenance for preventive care.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and route planning.
• Maintain safety culture, train drivers, and enforce DOT compliance.
