Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking an entry-level operations trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and timely freight movement and best-in-class customer service.

You will be trained to comply with DOT regulations and handle planning, routing, monitoring, and reporting for freight and loads. The role covers payroll, budget management, and coordination with maintenance and drivers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with up to 4 years related experience.
• Bachelor's degrees in Transportation Logistics, Business Admin/Management, or Supply Chain Management are preferred.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer and company event locations.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build positive relationships with drivers and carriers for carrier set-up.
• Fill in for absent staff and work on projects to optimize fleet profitability.
• Train drivers and staff on internal systems and processes.
• Analyze KPIs and prepare customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Assist with inventory, assets and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Handle payroll, budgeting, invoicing and reporting tasks.
• Maintain yard operations and coordinate maintenance and safety fixes.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers and staff to resolve service issues.
• Uphold safety culture with driver safety messages and trainings.
• Plan loads, routes and monitor freight movement to ensure on-time service.
