Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. seeks a Manager Trainee, January 2027, in Chicago. The role provides hands-on learning of managing a small driver count, non-traditional shifts, and ensuring safe, timely freight movement while maintaining exceptional customer service.

You will train to ensure DOT compliance and oversee drivers’ adherence to company regulations while collaborating with drivers, customers, and internal teams to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field is required or equivalent experience with 1 year in management/transportation/logistics.
• Willingness to travel to account locations and regional relocation may be needed.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Learn personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and employees.
• Become proficient in maximizing efficiency of fleet operations and profitability, with reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Learn to perform payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, invoicing, and reporting duties.
