Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and timely freight movement and top-tier customer service.

You will be trained on DOT compliance and responsible for drivers' adherence to company regulations, coordinating with internal and external contacts to plan, route, and monitor loads for accurate delivery.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor-level degree or higher in related fields.
• Willing to travel to account locations when applicable.
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights/weekends.
• Willingness to regionally relocate based on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and assist with special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Learn to train and orient drivers and internal/third-party staff.
• Analyze and report on fleet efficiency, KPIs, and profitability.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform administrative duties including payroll, invoicing, and reporting.
• Oversee yard operations and coordinate with maintenance for on-time service.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues.
• Support safety culture through driver safety messages and training.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight to meet on‑time delivery goals.
