Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. in Louisville, KY is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and supervise shifts including nights and weekends, ensuring safe, timely freight movement.

You will be trained on DOT compliance, driver performance, and reporting. You will build relationships with drivers and customers, support payroll and budgeting tasks, and contribute to fleet optimization and profitability while developing leadership skills in a structured

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR HS Diploma/GED with 1 year of related experience.
• Willing to travel to customer/account locations when applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to regional relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Preferred: Experience managing a team.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Learn to train drivers and staff, including internal and customer systems.
• Become proficient in maximizing efficiency of fleet operations and profitability, and present customer reports.
• Gain knowledge of managing inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform admin duties such as payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, and pay issue resolution.
• Learn to manage yard operations, inspect equipment, and coordinate maintenance.
• Work with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and plan routes.
• Maintain the company safety culture and ensure DOT compliance.
• Assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements.
