Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Wisconsin is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn managing a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, ensuring safe and timely freight movement. You will gain experience in load assignment, routing, and customer service while complying with DOT regulations.

The role involves learning fleet operations optimization, driver training, payroll tasks, and KPI reporting, with opportunities to progress within the Supply Chain organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in business/logistics or related field, or a high school diploma with related experience.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer and company events as applicable.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends if needed.
• Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and safe outside carriers for seamless carrier setup.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Train and orient drivers/employees and use internal and third-party systems.
• Maximize efficiency, suggest continuous improvements, and present KPI-based reporting.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment across markets.
• Perform payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, accident reviews, invoicing and related admin tasks.
• Manage yard operations: inspect equipment, replace parts, and coordinate maintenance.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and routing plans.
• Maintain safety culture with daily messages, trainings, and DOT compliance.
• Assign loads, plan routes, monitor freight and ETAs, handling exceptions as needed.
