Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Dallas, TX is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn and manage a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR high school diploma with 1 year management/ logis/ admin experience
• Willing to travel to account, customer and company events as needed
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends
• Willingness to regionally relocate depending on account assignment
• Experience leading a team is a plus
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
• Ability to adapt to changing environments
• Strong relationship-building with clients, vendors and peers
• Ability to meet/exceed driver and team needs and provide excellent service

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and carriers to set up new carriers and maximize productivity
• Fill in for absent staff and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability
• Learn to manage driver training and onboarding processes and systems
• Analyze and report on KPI, and present client-specific reporting and financial analysis
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment
• Perform administrative duties such as payroll, budgets, pay issue resolution, and financial reporting
• Learn to manage yard operations, maintenance scheduling, and repairs as needed
• Coordinate with drivers, customers and internal teams to resolve service issues during the day and on call when necessary
• Maintain safety culture with regular driver safety messages and training
• Plan loads, routes, monitor freight movements to meet customer requirements and adjust ETAs as needed
