Job summary

Maersk is seeking a dispatcher in Memphis to directly schedule drivers for freight deliveries and pickups, acting as the liaison between customers, drivers, and management. The role involves planning routes, handling communications, and maintaining dispatch records in a fast-paced logistics environment.

• Solid understanding of local and state traffic laws and regulations.

• Excellent interpersonal communication for coordination with customers, drivers, and management.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and manage dispatch documentation.

Responsibilities

• Schedule drivers for freight delivery and pickup.
• Communicate freight details with customers and vendors, including pickup/drop-off times and special requests.
• Plan predetermined routes for drivers.
• Identify traffic issues and implement corrective actions to meet delivery times.
• Prepare dispatch documents for management and for employees, customers, or vendors.
• Maintain records of dispatch calls, driver routes, route changes, and delivery/pick-up times.
• Monitor truck repairs and maintenance schedules.
• Log vendor complaints or concerns and respond as needed.
• Answer phone calls from vendors, customers, and management and provide assistance.
• Perform additional duties as requested.
