Waukegan Steel is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to support shipping and receiving, coordinate inbound/outbound freight, and maintain on-time delivery of fabricated steel products. You will work with production, project management, yard operations, and carriers to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective shipments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associate degree in related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of logistics/transport coordination experience.
• Manufacturing or steel fabrication industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage shipping schedules for current and upcoming deliveries.
• Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to support production.
• Collaborate with Production Managers, Project Managers, and yard staff.
• Arrange inbound/outbound freight and optimize transportation costs.
• Obtain competitive freight pricing while maintaining service levels.
• Monitor shipment status and communicate updates and delays.
• Ensure proof of delivery documentation is complete.
• Build relationships with carriers, freight providers, and customers.
• Coordinate loading schedules and transportation resources.
• Assist with resolving shipment issues and challenges.
• Support continuous improvement in logistics and shipping efficiency.
• Assist with truck loading when needed.
