We are seeking high-performing logistics professionals to join our fast-paced Control Tower Operations Center in Houston. Depending on your background, you will step into a role as an Operations Specialist or an Account Operations Coordinator, supporting continuous domestic ground freight execution (FTL, LTL, Intermodal) and account management.
In this environment, you will drive daily shipment execution, support high-value client relationships, execute load consolidation decisions, and ensure complete data accuracy across the entire shipment lifecycle—from initial origin booking through final delivery and invoicing.
Key Responsibilities
Shipment Execution & Operations (Inbound & Outbound):
- Manage origin dispatch, carrier tracking, and real-time shipment execution across FTL, LTL, and Intermodal modes.
- Conduct precise document audits by validating signed Bills of Lading (BOLs) and Proof of Deliveries (PODs) against internal TMS records.
- Reconcile cost and revenue entries across platforms to ensure accurate, complete, and billable files.
- Monitor telematics and real-time visibility tools to proactively resolve in-lane transit exceptions and dock scheduling bottlenecks.
Account Operations & Client Coordination:
- Act as the operational face of assigned customer accounts, maintaining responsiveness, accuracy, and composure under pressure.
- Read shipment boards and execute load consolidation decisions based on defined decision trees.
- Reconcile external customer portals against internal systems to maintain high data integrity.
- Draft clear, professional exception summaries for both internal teams and external client stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business preferred).
- Experience:
- Operations Specialist: 1–3 years in transportation operations, delivery coordination, dispatch, or 3PL execution.
- Account Operations Coordinator: 2–4 years in freight account management, customer service, or transportation operations.
- Technical Skills: Direct, hands-on experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS); familiarity with e2open TMF and Descartes Aljex strongly preferred.
- Freight Knowledge: Solid understanding of US domestic ground modes (FTL, LTL, Intermodal) and standard shipment lifecycle milestones from booking to invoice.
- Document & Financial Accuracy: Background auditing shipping documents (BOLs/PODs) and reconciling financial entries.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting high-value or security-sensitive customer programs under strict SOPs.
- Familiarity with real-time tracking tools (MacroPoint, Tive) and dock scheduling software (OpenDock).
- Experience troubleshooting EDI transmission errors between integrated systems.
- Understanding of cross-border documentation requirements and specialized freight handling.
- Sound judgment to distinguish single-occurrence exceptions from systemic operational issues.
Work Environment & Shift Expectations
- Setting: Fast-paced control tower/operations center supporting continuous shipment flow.
- Schedules: Standard business hours for Account Coordinators; rotating shift coverage (including nights, weekends, and holidays) for Operations Specialists supporting 24/7 delivery execution.
- Handover Discipline: Mandatory completion of end-of-shift handover checklists to ensure open customer commitments and exceptions transfer cleanly.
- Performance Metrics: Evaluated on intake quality, response timeliness, cycle-time speed, and system data accuracy
