Job summary

River Valley Holdings seeks a Logistics Assistant to manage inbound and outbound carrier appointments across four regional warehouses, ensuring efficient dock scheduling and balanced capacity. You will serve as the primary contact for carriers and support the transportation and logistics teams.

The role requires an Associate’s degree or higher (preferred) and 3+ years coordinating LTL/freight, with strong MS Office skills. Onsite, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, in Syracuse, NY.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary point of contact for carriers regarding appointments and dock availability.
• Schedule inbound carrier appointments across 4 warehouses in the region.
• Maintain dock calendars and ensure balanced daily/weekly capacity utilization.
• Prioritize appointments based on urgency, product type, and operational constraints.
• Communicate transportation delays or disruptions to the Operations and Purchasing Teams.
• Coordinate and schedule backhauls with the transportation team.
• Coordinate and schedule vendor and customer outbound pickups as needed.
• Track KPIs including on-time delivery performance, carrier wait times/detention, dock utilization.
• Identify trends and recommend process improvements.
• Work with Logistics Manager and Coordinator on carrier designation and routing for inbound loads.
• Perform various administrative tasks to support transportation and logistics teams.

River Valley, a growing specialty foods distributor in Syracuse, NY, is searching for a full time Logisitcs Assistant .

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned food distribution company based in Syracuse, NY and serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Empire Valley, distribute a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY.

The Logistics Assistant is responsible for managing inbound and outbound carrier appointments across multiple distribution facilities. This role ensures efficient dock scheduling, optimizes facility throughput, and serves as the primary point of contact for carriers and internal teams regarding delivery and pickup coordination.

Schedule:Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM, Onsite

Wages:$22.00-$24.00 per hour, depending on experience
