Job summary

River Valley Foods in Syracuse, NY is seeking a full-time Logistics Assistant to manage inbound/outbound carrier appointments and dock scheduling across four regional warehouses. You will coordinate pickups, monitor KPIs, and support the transportation and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of freight coordination experience, familiarity with MS Office, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher preferred but not required.
• 3+ years’ experience in coordinating LTL and Trailer Load freight.
• Familiarity with MS Office applications

Responsibilities

• Act as contact for carriers on appointments and dock availability.
• Schedule inbound carrier appointments across four warehouses.
• Maintain dock calendars and balance daily/weekly capacity.
• Prioritize appointments by urgency, product type, and constraints.
• Inform Operations and Purchasing of delays or disruptions.
• Coordinate backhauls with the transportation team.
• Coordinate vendor and customer outbound pickups as needed.
• Track KPIs: on-time delivery, wait times, dock utilization.
• Identify trends and propose process improvements.
• Assist with carrier designation and routing for inbound loads.
• Provide administrative support to logistics teams.
