Job summary

Hampton Lumber in Fairfax, SC is seeking a Log Scaler to weigh inbound and outbound loads and support mill operations. The role requires careful measurement, attention to safety, and precise recordkeeping.

You will inspect logs for defects, process log trucks per SOPs, and collaborate with procurement on inventory and quality. A high school diploma and good math skills are needed; opportunities for training and growth are offered.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process all incoming log trucks and residual shipments in accordance with mill SOPs.
  • Inspect logs for defects, damage, and compliance with mill specifications.
  • Follow all SOPs related to overweight loads, load spreading, and load rejection.
  • Collaborate with procurement on inventory and quality issues.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to log receipts and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with mill safety regulations and environmental requirements.
  • Assists with audits, inventory reconciliation and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain clean scalehouse, scales, and manage scaling supplies.
  • Provides a safe working environment for self and others.

The log scaler position is responsible for weighing inbound and outbound loads of logs and residuals to support the mill operations for Hampton Lumber in Fairfax, SC.
