Job summary

Northwest Hardwoods, Inc. is seeking a Log Scaler to join the Dorchester, WI team. You will learn and perform grading and scaling of logs, while also being cross-trained on rolling stock to fill in as needed.

The role involves direct collaboration with loggers, truck drivers and foresters, contributing to a smooth, safe operation. The position emphasizes strong analytics, teamwork and reliable communication to ensure accurate log characterization and data entry.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Flexible schedule with Fridays and Saturdays during logging season (up to 60 hours).
  • Forestry or scaling experience is a plus but not required.
  • Capable of working both in a team and with little supervision.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety for self, team and contractors.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop peer-to-peer relationships.

  • Open to flexible schedule (Friday and Saturdays a must during the logging season, with a total of up to 60 hours).
