• One year of recent experience as a Certified Log Scaler.

Responsibilities

• Measure logs to determine scale (volume) and quality (grade).
• Pass scale checks conducted by Sierra Pacific and outside inspection agencies.
• Safely operate log yard equipment, including front-end loader and water truck.
• Support continuous improvement and quality efforts.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and departments.

Currently, we are seeking a qualified Certified Log Scaler to work collaboratively with our sawmill in Quincy, California.

About the Position

• Measure logs to determine scale (volume) and quality (grade).
• Pass scale checks conducted by Sierra Pacific and outside inspection agencies.
• Be proficient in scaling rules and procedures.
• Safely and efficiently operate log yard equipment, including front‑end loader and water truck.
• Work to support continuous improvement and overall quality efforts.
• Recognize problems and take initiative to promptly correct them.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments.
• Adhere to all safety policies and perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
• Operate hand‑held computer.

• Proven knowledge of log grades and species identification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
