Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Lexington, NC is hiring an Overhaul Technician for the 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 2pm–10:30pm) to support locomotive truck overhaul. You will work with a skilled team performing overhaul maintenance, inspecting components, and re-profiling wheelsets with a wheel lathe to restore performance and reliability.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years in a mechanical environment, plus the ability to document work and report details.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in a predominantly mechanical environment.
• Experience documenting work performed, actions taken, and operational details.
• Strong knowledge of tool control, torque wrenches, measuring equipment, and proper PPE usage.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and related publications.
• Ability to produce clear, detailed technical reports.
• Strongly demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform overhaul maintenance on locomotive trucks to meet production plans.
• Remove, inspect, and fit components per work instructions to support quality, safety, and consistency.
• Re-profile train wheelsets using a state-of-the-art wheel lathe to restore wheel performance.
• Use pressure washing equipment to pre-clean components for inspection.
• Safely move locomotive trucks using overhead cranes and lifting devices.
• Partner with the warehouse team to collect spares and materials to keep work moving.
• Maintain workshop organization and complete additional tasks as directed by management.
