Job summary

Harbor Rail Services is hiring a Locomotive Engineer to safely operate locomotives within the railyard and coordinate train movements with yard personnel. You will conduct inspections, monitor systems, and ensure compliance with FRA rules in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires strong communication, decision-making under pressure, and a solid mechanical aptitude. A flexible schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold a high school diploma or GED.
• FRA locomotive engineer certification required/preferred.
• Strong safety and compliance mindset with attention to rules.

Responsibilities

• Operate locomotives to move railcars within the railyard safely.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip locomotive inspections.
• Communicate with yard staff, dispatchers, and supervisors.
• Follow train orders, signals, and FRA regulations.
• Maintain logs of operations and incidents.
