Job summary

Northern Plains Railroad, Inc. is seeking a Senior Locomotive Engineer to oversee safe train movements, including starting, stopping, and yard switching. You will ensure compliance with FRA directions and company policies while coordinating with dispatchers and crew members.

The role requires 3+ years of engineer experience, the ability to obtain FRA certification, and willingness to work 10–12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule. Competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• GED or higher.
• Ability to obtain and maintain FRA engineer certification.
• Strong understanding of safety and locomotive operations.

Responsibilities

• Direct control of safe train movements and switching operations.
• Comply with FRA rules, regulations, and company policies.
• Read and interpret orders from the train dispatcher and communicate with crew.
• Operate locomotives to transport freight and assemble/disassemble trains in yards.
• Inspect locomotives and equipment for safety and reliability.
• Prepare accurate reports as required by the Company and regulators.
• Be on call and work 10–12 hour shifts; shift times may vary.
• Maintain professionalism and safety at all times.
