Job summary

Patriot is seeking a Locomotive Engineer to oversee the safe operation of locomotives and adherence to FRA rules. The role includes assisting with transloading operations as needed and coordinating with train crew to ensure precise car movement and safety.

Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED, be 18+, hold a valid driver's license, and possess railroad experience or related college/work history. This is a safety-sensitive, on-site position requiring flexible hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Driver's License.
• 2 years verifiable work experience and/or college; railroad experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and operation of the locomotive in accordance with orders and FRA regulations.
• Review dispatch instructions and communicate with locomotive engineer and train crew.
• Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures and ensure proper readings of gauges.
• Operate throttle and brake controls and line switches as directed by the crew.
• Communicate effectively by radio/telephone and respond to signals, bulletins and work orders.
• Perform maintenance tasks on equipment and assist with transloading operations as needed.
• Adhere to 24-hour schedule requirements and safety protocols.
