Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • 2 years verifiable work experience and/or college; railroad experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety and operation of the locomotive in accordance with orders and FRA regulations.
  • Review dispatch instructions and communicate with locomotive engineer and train crew.
  • Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures and ensure proper readings of gauges.
  • Operate throttle and brake controls and line switches as directed by the crew.
  • Communicate effectively by radio/telephone and respond to signals, bulletins and work orders.
  • Perform maintenance tasks on equipment and assist with transloading operations as needed.
  • Adhere to 24-hour schedule requirements and safety protocols.
