Job summary

Silvi Materials is seeking a Concrete Truck Driver in East Newark, NJ, delivering ready-mix concrete with safety and reliability as top priorities. You will operate an 80,000 lbs truck, perform inspections, load with ladders and chutes, and communicate with dispatch to ensure timely deliveries.

Typical start times range from midnight to 9am; must pass DOT requirements and have a CDL with valid DOT medical card. Benefits include extensive health coverage, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL-A or CDL-B with DOT Medical Card.
• Must pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
• Able to work a variable schedule with start times 12am–9am.
• 1 year of preferred driving experience

Responsibilities

• Maintain the highest standard of quality and safety while delivering concrete on time.
• Operate an 80,000 lbs ready-mix truck in accordance with all federal and state regulations.
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT guidelines.
• Load and pour concrete using ladders, main chutes and extension chutes in busy areas.
• Maintain delivery, truck and driving records per company policies and regulations.
• Read delivery tickets and coordinate with dispatch regarding all deliveries.
• Wash residual concrete and materials from the truck and barrel.

So what does a Silvi Materials Concrete Mixer driver do?

• Maintain the highest standard of quality and safety while ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of concrete.
• Operate an 80,000 lbs ready-mix truck in accordance with all federal and state regulations.
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT guidelines; document and request required repairs as needed.
• Load and pour concrete according to procedures involving the use of ladders, main chutes and extension chutes, as well as driving in and out of areas with heavy pedestrian and equipment traffic.
• Maintain delivery, truck and driving records in accordance with company policies, as well as federal and state regulations.
• Read delivery tickets and communicate with dispatch regarding all deliveries.
• Wash residual concrete and materials off and out of all areas of the truck and barrel.

Qualifications Required As a Silvi Materials Driver.

• Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license CDL-A or CDL-B and have a valid DOT Medical Card
• Must pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
• Able to work a variable schedule. Start times are anywhere between 12am- 9am. Requires calling in to the plant at 4/5pm daily.
• 1 year of preferred driving experience

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds on a regular basis, throughout the day.
• Must be able to climb on traditional and truck ladders.
• Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Stand/sit for long periods of time.

• Make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists while driving.

• Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm.
• See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.

• Use muscles for extended periods of time.
• Be physically active for long periods of time.
• Determine from which direction a sound came.
• See differences between colors, shades, and brightness
