Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Local P&D or City Driver to move freight between service centers and customer locations. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and on-time delivery in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Drivers must hold a valid Class A CDL with required endorsements and meet DOT medical, drug, and alcohol standards. Work involves loading/unloading, securing freight, and operating tablets to manage shipments.

Qualifications

• Must have CDL class A with double/triple trailers, tanker and hazmat endorsements.
• 12 months tractor-trailer driving experience or graduate of an approved school.
• Must read, write, speak English and pass DOT medical, drug and alcohol tests.
• Must be at least 22 years old.
• Must have acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Must operate handheld tablets when required.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations and company policies.
• Meet medical standards and pass required drug/alcohol tests.
• Load/unload freight and secure it in trailers using appropriate methods.
• Read shipping labels and complete necessary freight forms.
• Maintain logs and communicate with service center staff as needed.
