Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking Local P&D or City Drivers to operate tractor-trailer combinations between service centers and customer sites within a defined geographic area. You will sort, handle, load, and unload freight at company and customer locations.

Roles require DOT-compliant driving, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Minimum 12 months driving experience and a valid Class A CDL with hazmat endorsements are expected.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, and speak English.
• Must be able to perform basic math.
• Valid CDL Class A with double/triple trailers, tanker, and hazmat endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer safely per DOT rules.
• Meet DOT medical and drug/alcohol testing standards.
• Load/unload freight using forklifts or manually with proper technique.
• Safely transport freight within service centers.
• Use Dock Yard Management System to track shipments.
• Read shipping labels and complete related freight documents.
• Assist with loading/unloading and securing cargo.
• Maintain safe loading practices and proper securing of loads.
• Communicate with service center staff and meet delivery schedules.
