Job summary

ABF Freight is hiring for a dock/yard role focused on pickup and delivery of cargo near a distribution center. Duties include loading/unloading, trailer setup, and routine paperwork with emphasis on safety and efficiency. A Class-A CDL with hazmat endorsements is required, plus DOT pre-employment screening and a valid driving record.

This hourly position offers weekly pay and variation by location, with overtime after 8 hours and union benefits for eligible full-time staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience or eligibility for training.
• Class-A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker and hazmat endorsements.
• Be able to pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and meet DOT medical requirements.
• Shift days/hours vary by location and may include days, nights, weekends.

Responsibilities

• Complete routine paperwork effectively, and log loading sheets.
• Plan trailer setup/teardown to optimize time, resources and safety under weight rules.
• Operate a forklift as needed.
• Load and unload cargo.
• Check-in, tractor/trailer inspection, tractor setup, and cargo pickup/delivery.
• Other duties, as assigned.
