• Coordinate bankruptcy, eviction, possession, and REO matters with attorneys and trustees.
• Ensure proper distributions and final loan or property disposition with investors.

Job Summary

A boutique private money lending firm in Aliso Viejo, CA is seeking an experienced Loan Servicing & Default Specialist to manage complex real estate loans from routine servicing through default resolution, foreclosure, bankruptcy, REO management, and final disposition.

This is a high-impact role for a hands‑on loan servicing professional who understands California private money or commercial real estate lending and can confidently protect investor interests throughout the full loan lifecycle. You will work in a close-knit, professional environment where your judgment, organization, and communication skills are valued. The role offers visibility, ownership, and the opportunity to work directly with investors, borrowers, trustees, legal counsel, and other key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, steady under pressure, and capable of managing sensitive financial and legal matters with professionalism and discretion.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day loan servicing activities, including payments, payoffs, reconveyances, and borrower and investor communication.
• Monitor delinquencies, senior liens, property taxes, insurance, and other risk indicators to identify and address issues early.
• Negotiate workouts, loan modifications, and forbearance agreements directly with borrowers.
• Manage Notice of Default and foreclosure processes from start to finish in coordination with foreclosure trustees and legal counsel.
• Coordinate bankruptcy, eviction, possession, and REO matters with attorneys, trustees, vendors, and other parties.
• Keep investors informed, obtain approvals when required, manage distributions, and support final loan or property disposition.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range: $60,000 to $80,000 per year.
• Job type: Direct Hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Manage complex loan servicing matters from payment processing through default, foreclosure, and resolution.
• Administer and enforce note and deed of trust terms to protect investor interests.
• Coordinate with foreclosure trustees, attorneys, bankruptcy counsel, and other external partners.
• Manage REO properties after foreclosure, including protection, management, marketing, sale coordination, and final payouts.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant loan servicing, default servicing, private money lending, commercial real estate lending, or related mortgage experience.
• Solid understanding of California private money lending or commercial real estate lending processes.
• Hands‑on experience managing loans through default, foreclosure, workout, and resolution.
• Experience working with Notice of Default processes, foreclosure trustees, legal counsel, bankruptcy matters, and eviction or possession issues.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to track deadlines, documentation, financial details, and legal process requirements.
• Professional communication skills with the ability to keep investors informed and borrowers engaged during challenging situations.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to work independently without constant oversight.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing REO properties acquired through foreclosure.
• Familiarity with investor reporting, approval processes, distributions, and final loan or entity wind‑down activities.
• Prior experience in a boutique lending, private lending, hard money lending, or real estate investment environment.
