Job summary

First International Bank and Trust is seeking a Loan Quality Control Specialist to support accurate and compliant lending operations at our Fargo on-site location. This role reviews loan data, ensures documentation accuracy, and identifies issues to drive process improvements and regulatory reporting reliability.

The position emphasizes collaboration with lending and operations teams, with focus on CRA/HMDA reporting and ongoing quality control initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Banking, or related field plus 2+ years in loan ops or related banking role.
• Experience with commercial and/or consumer loan documentation.
• Familiarity with CRA, HMDA, regulatory reporting or audits preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review newly booked commercial and consumer loans for documentation accuracy and compliance.
• Audit loan maintenance requests and verify documentation is complete.
• Confirm collateral documentation is properly executed and perfected.
• Identify exceptions, communicate findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain audit records for reporting, compliance, and examinations.
• Partner with lending and loan operations teams to reduce errors and improve processes.
• Monitor quality control results to identify trends and training needs.
• Review CRA and HMDA data, including coding, reconciliation, and reporting support.

First International Bank and Trust is seeking a Loan Quality Control Specialist to support accurate, consistent, and compliant lending operations. This role reviews loan documentation, validates loan data, identifies issues, and works with lending and operations teams to improve processes and support reliable regulatory reporting.

This is a strong opportunity for someone with experience in loan operations, servicing, documentation, lending support, quality control, or compliance who enjoys detailed analytical work and wants to make a direct impact on loan accuracy, risk management, and CRA/HMDA reporting. This position is based on-site at one of our posted office locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review newly booked commercial and consumer loans for documentation accuracy, completeness, and policy/regulatory compliance.
• Audit loan maintenance requests and verify supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
• Confirm collateral documentation is properly executed, recorded, and perfected.
• Identify exceptions, communicate findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain audit records and documentation for reporting, compliance, and examination needs.
• Partner with lending and loan operations teams to reduce errors and improve processes.
• Monitor quality control results to identify trends, training needs, and improvement opportunities.
• Review, validate, and maintain CRA and HMDA data, including loan identification, coding, reconciliation, exception research, and reporting support.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Banking, or a related field; two or more years of experience in loan operations, servicing, documentation, processing, quality control, lending support, compliance, or a related banking function, or equivalent combination of education and applicable banking experience.
• Experience working with commercial and/or consumer loan documentation required.
• Experience reviewing loan files, loan boarding activities, maintenance requests, or operational quality control processes preferred.
• Knowledge of loan lifecycle processes, banking regulations, and loan operations compliance preferred.
• Experience with CRA, HMDA, regulatory reporting, loan compliance, or audit-related work preferred.
• Proficiency with core banking, loan servicing, document management, or related banking systems preferred.
