Job summary

Sartorius Marlborough, MA is seeking a Research Intern (Lipid Nanoparticle & mRNA Synthesis) to contribute to the full product development cycle from concept to prototype and work closely with engineers and scientists in a multidisciplinary environment. The role is onsite at Marlborough.

Responsibilities include conducting IVT experiments, developing LNP formulations, supporting process development, troubleshooting, data analysis, and presenting results in internal meetings.

Qualifications

• Current graduate student in biomedical, chemical, mechanical engineering or related field with experience in lipid nanoparticles and/or nucleic acids.
• Hands-on lab experience with RNA synthesis, preferably including in vitro transcription.
• Experience with LNP formulation/characterization using standard assays (DLS, NTA, RiboGreen, HPLC, ELISA).
• Familiarity with lab automation, microfluidics, or 3D printing is a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present results clearly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct systematic IVT experiments on benchtop bioreactors; collect and analyze data.
• Develop protocols for preparing and characterizing nucleic acid-loaded LNP formulations.
• Support LNP process development, scale-up, and workflow optimization.
• Troubleshoot experimental design and execution.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data; present results in internal meetings.
