Job summary

Sartorius AG is seeking a motivated graduate student to conduct IVT experiments on benchtop bioreactors and develop protocols for nucleic acid–loaded LNP formulations at our Marlborough, MA site. You will support LNP process development, including screening, scale-up, and workflow optimization, while troubleshooting experimental designs and communicating results in internal meetings.

Qualifications

• Current graduate student in biomedical, chemical, mechanical engineering, or related field with formal education and experience with lipid nanoparticles and/or nucleic acids.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with RNA synthesis, preferably including in vitro transcription.
• Experience with LNP formulation and characterization, including techniques such as DLS, NTA, RiboGreen assay, HPLC, chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, ELISA, or related assays.
• Familiarity with microfluidic instruments, laboratory automation, 3D printing, advanced cell models, or conjugation reactions is a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize results and present findings clearly.

What you will accomplish together with us:

• Conductsystematic experiments of in vitro transcription (IVT) reaction on benchtop bioreactors; collect and analyze the data.

• Develop and execute protocols for preparing and characterizing nucleic acid–loaded lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations using automated LNP synthesis platforms.

• Support LNP process development activities, including screening, scale-up, and manufacturing-relevant workflow optimization.

• Troubleshoot issues with experimental design and execution.

• Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data; prepare technical summaries and present results in internal meetings and reviews.

What will convince us:

Education

Experience

• Hands‑on laboratory experience with RNA synthesis, preferably including in vitro transcription.

Compensation is up to $30 an hour. No relocation and/or accommodations are offered.
