Job summary

The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association seeks a Certification Specialist to provide high quality customer service and perform technical reviews of organic system plans, primarily in livestock and dairy. You will review inspection reports and communicate results to producers in accordance with policy.

Remote position within MOFGA Certification Services' territory (Maine, New Hampshire, and parts of Massachusetts) with occasional in-person meetings and farm visits.

Qualifications

• Education or experience in organic certification or regulatory compliance, including inspections and auditing.
• Knowledge of USDA-NOP standards, especially crop, livestock/dairy, and processing.
• Ability to communicate effectively, including writing, and strong organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle; willingness to travel within MOFGA’s service territory.

Responsibilities

• Performs certification activities for clients including technical reviews of organic system plans within livestock and dairy scope.
• Review inspection reports and communicate results to producers according to policy.
• Assist applicants by explaining standards and the certification process and encourage use of MOFGA services.
• Pursue adverse actions with colleagues and maintain auditable files.
