Job summary

The New School is seeking an Overhire Video Operator to support livestreams and video recordings for the College of Performing Arts. This on-campus role covers live switching, camera operation, and equipment setup, with opportunities for additional events as needed.

Reporting to the Audio & Video Supervisor, you will design and execute livestream presentations, match camera exposure, and ensure professional service for student and scholarly events.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as livestream engineer or 2+ years as camera operator.
• Knowledge of Sony and Blackmagic cameras, PTZ cameras and operation.
• Live-switching skills with Vmix and ATEM Switchers.
• Exposure and white balance for stage lighting.
• Familiarity with CineEyes wireless video solutions.
• Understanding video signal flow from camera to stream destination.
• Ability to read signal flow diagrams, stage plots, run-of-show, cue lists.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to coordinate with departments and event staff.
• Punctuality, professionalism, collaborative attitude.

Responsibilities

• Understand and execute the technical aspects of each design, including interpreting video needs and signal flow.
• Determine best camera locations to create engaging multicam shots.
• Design, Direct, and switch livestreams using Vmix and ATEM Switchers.
• Set exposure and match color for a unified look across cameras.
• Manage recorded media for pre-recorded events.
• Provide professional service to all parties.
• Fulfills Livestream System Tech setup, operation, and strike before/during/after events.
• Direct technicians under supervision to deliver the University’s standard.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
