Job summary

Stephen F. Austin State University is seeking a live-in Resident Assistant to foster community, support student development, and promote the Residence Life philosophy within on-campus residence halls.

The position requires active student status and involvement with the Residence Life Department. The RA will supervise a floor of 25–55 students, work a front desk rotation, and participate in ongoing staff trainings and programming coordination.

Qualifications

• Active student in good academic standing (GPA 2.5+ for undergrad or 3.0+ for graduate).
• Currently employed by the Residence Life Department.
• Training provided; two semesters of residence hall living or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understands and enforces university objectives, policies, and Residence Life guidelines.
• Maintains ongoing communication with departmental staff.
• Displays a positive, professional attitude toward students and staff.
• Works the residence hall front desk six hours per week.
• Participates in weekday and weekend duty rotation.
• Acts as a referral agent to campus and community resources.
• Attends staff trainings, weekly meetings, and other assigned sessions.
• Coordinates programming needs and assessment in assigned halls.
• Addresses and documents student conduct and community guideline concerns.
• Ensures building security and safety.
