Job summary

American University seeks a Resident Assistant (RA) who will work as a part-time student staff member in Housing & Residence Life. The RA connects residents to resources, advises on navigating college life, and contributes to a supportive living environment on campus.

Responsibilities include on-call coverage, community engagement, administrative tasks, and training participation. Compensation includes a $375 monthly stipend and 15 hours per week in a live-in, 10-month position from August

Qualifications

• Full-time enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student (minimum 12 credits).
• One semester living on campus with GPA requirements (2.5+).
• This is a 10-month live-in position from August through May.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Resident Assistant on an on-campus floor or community.
• Plan and facilitate learning and engagement opportunities for residents.
• Advise residents and refer them to campus resources for academic and personal well-being.
• Complete required health and safety inspections and incident reports.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in training and development.
