Job summary

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences seeks an Area Coordinator, Operations, to lead residential life across multiple housing areas for 400+ students. The role is live-in and focuses on operational excellence, staff supervision, programming, and community development.

You will supervise a team of 12 staff, coordinate move-in/out, break housing, and on-call coverage, while collaborating with COF partners to enhance residential experience.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required; minimum of two years of post-graduate experience in residential life or student affairs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms; ability to learn data management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop large, multi-building staff teams and manage complex operational logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Residence Life Operations: oversee daily operations for three or more residential areas; manage housing rosters, key distribution, and room changes.
  • Coordinate move-in/move-out, staffing, logistics, and communication for students including international and first-year students.
  • Oversee break housing operations and emergency housing, and manage emergency room assignments.
  • Support updates to Residence Life web pages and student communications; coordinate summer housing and Off Campus Partners resources.
  • Oversee storage operations for Resident Assistant staff.
  • Staff Supervision & Development: supervise 12 staff across three or more areas; provide training and ongoing support.
  • Develop onboarding, scheduling, payroll/timesheet procedures for student employees.
  • Collaborate with practicum Graduate Assistants and campus partners; coordinate RA recruitment and selection.
  • Cross-Institutional Partnership: liaise with Colleges of the Fenway consortium; support shared housing operations and programming.
  • Coordinate joint staff training and policy orientation with consortium partners.
  • Collaborate on break operations, building transitions, and end-of-year turnover.
  • Community & Student Development: foster inclusive residential community; support conflict resolution and resource connections.
  • Design and facilitate staff training on crisis response, conflict management, and student engagement.
  • Develop programming resources and communication materials for resident learning outcomes.
  • Departmental Contributions: serve on committees; represent Residence Life at events.
  • Coordinate building-wide programs and engagement initiatives; assist with promotional materials.
  • Develop roster verification procedures for fall, spring, summer operations.
  • Student Conduct & Emergency Response: serve as hearing officer for Code of Conduct cases; adjudicate and assign outcomes.
  • Participate in on-call rotation; respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Provide crisis support, case management, and referrals.
  • Develop staff training on crisis response and emotional intelligence.
  • Additional: duties as assigned by supervisor.
